Introduction to the Tarot

January 21, 2022

Tarot Cards are an ancient divination tool that has been used for centuries. They are often used to predict the future or uncover information hidden from view. Tarot cards are one of the most popular tools for personal insight and decision-making. There is a lot of mystery surrounding them, but this article will give you all the basics you need to know about tarot cards including how they work, who uses them, how to read them, and more!

What Are Tarot Cards?

Tarot cards are a deck of playing cards that can be used to predict the future or uncover information hidden from view.

The cards are typically illustrated with scenes of people, animals, and symbols. The most common decks have 78 cards - 22 Major Arcana (or trump) and 56 Minor Arcana.

The major arcana represent big life changes or events, while the minor arcana represents more day-to-day things like love, money, work, etc.

Who Uses Tarot Cards?

Most of the people who use tarot cards are those who are looking for guidance in life. Tarot cards help you set your intentions and provide an answer to your question so that you can make the best decision possible.

Tarot cards can be used by anyone, but they're most commonly used by those who want some insight into their lives and what they should do next. People turn to tarot cards when they're at a crossroads or need guidance about something major happening in their lives. Tarot cards help reveal information that could have otherwise been hidden from view.

If you're interested in learning more about yourself, the future, or other things in your life, then turning to tarot cards may be just what you need!

How Do You Read Tarot Cards?

Tarot cards are divided into two sections, the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The major arcana are typically described as being more influential or powerful, while the minor arcana are said to be less influential or powerful.

The first step of reading Tarot cards is to shuffle the deck well. Put your energy and intention into them. Shuffle the deck thoroughly so that the cards are in an unfamiliar order. Now ask your question aloud, and make sure to be clear and consise so you recieve the best answer. Then draw one card from the top of the deck, turning it over to reveal what it is. Now you can either open the quick reference booklet that came with the deck for interepretation or you can seek deeper information from one of the many well renown tarot sites on the web. We also have a nice Tarot collection of PDF books that cover a wide range of explainations, methods, and spreads etc.

The Major Arcana

The Major Arcana is a set of twenty-two cards that are used to predict the future or uncover hidden information.

Each Major Arcanum depicts a scene, mostly featuring a person or several people, with many symbolic elements. In many decks, each has a number (usually in Roman numerals) and a name, though not all decks have both, and some have only a picture. Every tarot deck is different and carries a different connotation with the art, however most symbolism remains the same.

Also, each of these cards can be interpreted differently depending on its position in relation to other cards in the spread.

Each Major Arcana card offers a rich understanding of where we are in life, and can be meditated upon to find inner alignment. The Major Arcana is often called “The Fool’s Journey,” as each card marks an important milestone on the Fool’s path to spiritual enlightenment.

Below is a list of the 22 Major Arcana cards in a Tarot deck

0 The Fool, 1 The Magician, 2 The High Priestess, 3 The Empress, 4 The Emperor, 5 The Hierophant, 6 The Lovers, 7 The Chariot, 8 Strength, 9 The Hermit, 10 Wheel of Fortune, 11 Justice, 12 The Hanged Man, 13 Death, 14 Temperance, 15 The Devil, 16 The Tower, 17 The Star, 18 The Moon, 19 The Sun, 20 Judgement, 21 The World.

The Minor Arcana

The Minor Arcana is made up of four suits, which are swords, wands, pentacles, and cups. Each suit corresponds to one of the four classical elements. The swords represent air; the wands represent fire; the pentacles represent earth; and, finally, the cups correspond to water.

In a Tarot reading, a Minor Arcana card will show you what's happening in your daily life and how it is affecting you. These practical cards represent the interactions, experiences, thoughts and emotions you encounter as you go about your life.
